Some people are still confused as to the pass interference penalty that happened on the Blue player late in the game on Sunday. As most of us saw, the player did not have his hands above his shoulders which proves that he wasn't aware that the ball was even thrown his direction. The ball practically hit him in the head. What are is the rule concerning this matter? It was such a vital call that I think needs clarification. Had the penalty not been called it would have been Blue's ball(haha) mid field, and the score still 0-0
Thanks
As stated in the NFL rule books, pass interference is any attempt to interfere with a receiver's fair chance to catch the ball. the fact that the defender was not aware that the ball was being thrown in his direction, yet he made contact with the receiver beyond the alloted first 5 yds makes it pass interference. Had he been looking at the ball trying to fight for the ball along with the receiver, it may have been overlooked. but the fact is, the defender played the player and made contact with the receiver, not allowing the receiver to have a fair chance to catch the ball.
Please update the typhoon and blue records to 0-5
